About StFX Scholar

The official institutional repository of St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) is called StFX Scholar. It is a collaborative effort between the Angus L Macdonald Library and Research Office that seeks to offer free long-term online access to publications, academic outputs, and other works of StFX faculty, librarians, staff, and students.

Through StFX Scholar, the Angus L Macdonald Library collects, manages, and provides free access to research and other materials that represent the intellectual and creative output of the University.

StFX Scholar also serves as the access platform for digital collections (e.g., Celtic Collection, Casket Obituaries) and university outputs (e.g., StFX Yearbooks and Xaverian Weekly). Our mission through the digital collections is to preserve and highlight the intellectual and creative achievements of the StFX community and the broader Antigonish region.

The Library accepts a wide range of materials for inclusion in StFX Scholar, such as, but not limited to:

  • books & book chapters
  • preprints
  • protocols
  • post print/accepted version of papers
  • conference abstracts & conference posters
  • reports and working paper
  • learning objects such as slides, assessments
  • audio recordings

These materials can be born-digital materials or digitized. Most common file formats are acceptable, such as PDF, PNG, JPEG, MPF, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

All completed thesis and dissertations must be submitted to StFX Scholar for preservation.
