Welcome to the Angus L. Macdonald Library's workshops
Throughout the academic year, the library offers a regular rotation of online and in-person workshops on various topics related to information literacy. The workshops are open to all students, staff and faculty and can last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour in duration.
They are designed to teach essential scholarly research skills; such as the ability to successfully locate, evaluate, cite and utilize credible sources. By attending one or more of our library workshops, students will learn how to best access library services and to navigate the increasingly complex academic publishing landscape.

The library offers one-on-one research consultations with subject librarians with research expertise in a variety of subjects. Librarians are here to support you throughout the research cycle, from forming a research question to how to manage data.
Each department and program at StFX has a liaison librarian assigned to it. In each of these disciplines, the liaison librarians are responsible for collection development, teaching duties as arranged with a professor, maintaining a subject guide on that area and, of course, helping students looking for subject-specific research help. To connect with your liaison librarian, first find out their name on this page. Next, complete this form to book a research consultation, whether online or in-person. Librarians are also available to provide library tours to individuals or groups.
Librarians are available for drop-in help at the Research Help Desk. You'll find the desk on the Library's main floor across from "The Pit" and the orange couches. This desk is staffed during the afternoons, Monday to Friday from 1 pm - 4 pm throughout the regular semester. Stop by to find help with your research or just to chat and get to know a librarian.
