New York Times Login Information

Return users:  when you access nytimes.com you must login to your personal NYT account that you created, as described below.

First time users of the New York Times must set up a personal account with a StFX email address. Follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Navigate to accessnyt.com 
  • Step 2: Search for and click the listing for "St. Francis Xavier University - Canada"
  • Step 3: Follow the steps based on whether you are On or Off Campus
    • If you are brand new, click the "Create Account" button. Use your StFX email address and create a password that is different from your StFX email password.
    • If you have previously registered your StFX email address on The New York Times site, click the "Already have an account?" "Log in here" link.  (This does not include paid accounts - see below).

Existing Paid New York Times subscribers must cancel their paid subscription before authenticating via the StFX subscription.

After you create your New York Times account, you can login directly at nytimes.com, you do not have to go through the library website every time in order to use the StFX subscription.

Once registered, students will have access until December 31 of the graduation year they choose and faculty/staff will have 1456 days of full account access, after which they must re-authenticate by visiting accessnyt.com.

Browse the New York Times archive, from Volume 1, issue 1 through 2002.

  • On the New York Times site, select the menu icon on the top left,
  • Select More, at the bottom of the menu,
  • Select TimesMachine.

New York Times in Education

To access The New York Times' education resource website, complete a short registration form. You must set up your NYTimes account first (details above) and use your StFX email address. (Remember, do not use your StFX email password.)

Once registered, you can access the site directly at nytimesineducation.com
