Automatic Method: Proxy a link for off-campus access

To create a proxy URL to access library resources off campus:

To access StFX Library subscriptions (eg. full text of a journal article, ebook, database) off campus, the link has to be proxied. A link containing a proxy or "libproxy" will prompt the person to log in, thus authenticating access to that resource for free through the library.

Note for instructors: You should always use a proxy link when linking to library materials on Moodle, syllabus, etc.

1) Copy and paste the article URL to which you want to link into the search box below.

2) Click the blue box ' Get Proxy URL'

3) Copy the new URL generated by the box

For example, off campus this link will not allow access to the full article: https://doi.org/10.1097/ANS.0b013e31824fe6c

But after the proxy is prepended: https://libproxy.stfx.ca/login?url=https://doi.org/10.1097/ANS.0b013e31824fe6ca

The new link will redirect to a login page, prompting users to log in with StFX credentials.
