No, paper copies of electronic journal articles, to which we have access, will NOT be placed on reserve. This is a Library policy.
Articles submitted to Course Reserves will be checked for electronic availability. The URL and database name will be emailed to faculty to forward to their students.
The library will accept monographs and print journal articles for Reserve. These items may be from the library’s collection or, with permission, from the library of another institution. Items to be placed on Course Reserves from other institutions may take up to six weeks to be delivered. Please contact library@stfx.ca as soon as possible if your item is not available from our collection. Monographs / books may also come from the instructor’s personal collection.
Yes, sound recordings from the library’s collection or from the instructor’s personal collection may be placed on Reserve. Sound recordings must be in the form in which they were purchased. Copying is allowed only by permission of the copyright owner, or, in some cases, under fair dealing. Please note the University Library subscribes to Naxos Music Library, for classical music, and Naxos Music Library Jazz, where thousands of recordings can be listened to over the Internet.
A maximum of four copies per individual item will be accepted unless a demand is demonstrated.
Yes, if the articles are for research or private study.

Faculty members may request a PDF of articles from journals that the Library only has in print format. Request these items through our Document Delivery form. A PDF of the article will be emailed directly to you!
No, as a student you are only permitted to print off a paper copy and you are not permitted to transmit the electronic copy to another individual.
